Physio explained
Physiotherapy is an evidence-based treatment for conditions that affect the muscles, joints and soft-tissues. This is what we refer to as the musculoskeletal system.
When injury, illness or disability affect someone’s movement and function, we, as physios, help to reduce pain and restore mobility. We do this through supported and well-researched manual therapy techniques, exercise, education and advice.
Physios are health care professionals, so we recognise the importance of the ‘whole person approach’ to health and well-being. This means following an approach that takes a holistic view that considers many aspects of our patient’s lifestyle.
We aim to actively involve our patients in their own care throughout their treatment. Therefore, it is our role as physios to ensure that we educate, raise awareness, empower and involve our patients as participants in their treatment.
All treatments we deliver are individual to the patient. In order to do this, we will always perform a thorough assessment and physical examination. This means we aid your recovery by providing you with what are the most effective exercises and advice in line with the latest evidence-based research.
